Dr. Daniele Cantarella
DDS, MS, PhD

Treviso October 24th 2025

Course Abstract

The course aims to illustrate the dental and skeletal effects of conventional maxillary expansion (RPE), surgically assisted palatal expansion (SARPE), and skeletal maxillary expansion (MSE) supported by palatal mini-screws.The characteristics of the MSE appliance, its clinical indications, the effects induced at the skeletal level, the implications for nasal breathing and the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) will be analysed in detail.Numerous clinical cases will be presented with a detailed description of the various stages of treatment, as well as clinical cases with follow-ups after several years.During the hands on part, the modelling of the MSE and the insertion of mini-screws on typodonts will be explained. It will also be shown how to perform digital planning of the MSE appliance on the patient’s CBCT and the entire digital workflow.During the clinical session, participants will observe the placement of the MSE on a patient at the Cantarella Clinic in Treviso.

The course is open to orthodontists, dentists, ENT specialists, specialists in sleep medicine, maxillofacial surgeons, dental lab technicians.
